How To
Mix organic cassia with warm to hot distilled water as a hair treatment (hair recipes can be found on our How To page or use as is). Let the cassia sit for about 15 minutes and then apply onto hair that has been freshly washed with our hair washes or shampoo bars. Hair treatments can stay in the hair for 1-2 hours. When dyeing hair, mix cassia (for golden tones) at 100% OR mix henna and cassia in the proportions needed for the tone you want to achieve. Strawberry blonde is 3 parts cassia to 1 part henna. Copper tones is 50/50 of henna and cassia. Once you blend the dry herbs, then add your warm to hot distilled water and mix well. Allow cassia and henna mix to sit 3-4 hours for dye release. Apply on freshly washed hair. Leave this treatment in hair for 3-4 hours. Rinse out with our cleansing cowash to restore moisture for all hair treatments, masks and coloring. Moisturize, dry and style as usual. Warning: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Always test all henna, herbs and products on your skin/scalp before use for possible allergies. Henna and Ayurvedic herbs can be drying to some hair types. Be sure to add necessary moisturizing ingredients to your hair treatments before and after. Henna can also loosen the curl pattern. Be sure to use amla or zizyphus powders or masks to maintain curl pattern.
Cassia is a semi permanent and needs to be repeated every 2-3 weeks. This herb will loosen your curl pattern, should this apply.

I would like to know what acid I’m supposed to add to it to get the “release”? I have ascorbic acid powder or should I use acv or what do you recommend? I did the 1/2 cassia 1/2 henna recipe and used camomile water to mix it up. Ultimately
trying to achieve copper color🤔 it will be a long haul since I’ve been doing auburn for many years from another company and it became so dark I was ready to shave my head. I did the vitamin c powder and shampoo followed by coconut oil a few times which lightened it slightly so I’ll just wear baseball hat till the new color is all grown in and auburn which is really dark cherry color color has been chopped off. Seems like very nice cassia
henna high quality too. Best part is no bloody two step process just leave mix on 3 hours.
Thanks mucho 👍
I've been enjoying my monthly hair spa days with my mix of cassia, brahmi, and amla. The cassia is easy to mix and apply to my microlocs. I applied it to freshly washed hair, left it on for 4 hours, then used the Sweet Orange cowash to wash it out of my locs. My locs are clean, soft, and conditioned. I love it!
Thank you for leaving such an amazing review and for your locs too!!! Love this. For the time you took and additonal photos we'll add double the points. Enjoy!
I did not receive an instruction guide with my bundle, so tried to figure out how to use the henna via youtube. tried the henna last week looking for a gold tone and got nothing. Tried again and the result was flaming red, tried the indigo to tone the red down, which said for brown tones, to. Leave on for 2 hours after 45 minutes I checked and my hair appeared to be totally black. 🙁 i was going for a light brown. Not unhappy i will continue to experiment in the future. Would love to send photos
Hello. We're glad to hear you're still trying but the products you're leaving a review on, aren't henna nor indigo. Cassia can give a golden tone but it's not henna and it's not indigo which stains differently. Do note cassia specifically is temporary and sometimes will work and for others not. Also our product line does't offer light brown. So we're a bit confused as well as to the expectation.
I just received the order. I am very excited to use it on wash day Monday.
