Shikakai a is a small shrub-like tree which grows in India. It's pod-like fruit is collected, dried and then ground into a fine powder. Our shikakai powder is organically certified.

Shikakai powder is used to:

to cleanse hair
for promoting hair growth
preventing dandruff
strengthening the hair from its roots

Due to these benefits, this powder was named shikakai which means "fruit for the hair".

Traditionally, no conditioner is used since shikakai also acts as a detangler. This ancient product is probably the world's original pH balanced hair cleanser and used as a an herbal shampoo.

Do note everyone's hair is very individual and should you need to, please use a conditioner, ACV rinse or moisture rich leave in or oil for best results.

Instructions

You can take your shikakai powder and mix it with warm to hot distilled water and make a paste which is worked through the hair. It lathers moderately and cleanses hair beautifully. It has a natural low pH, is extremely mild and doesn't strip hair of its natural oils. Do note some hair types may require balancing with our cleansing CoWash or an ACV rinse or leave in conditioner or oil. Use as needed based on your hair needs and focus.

Never using shampoo again. Made my hair pillowy soft. Put the paste in my hair and wrapped for an hour, washed out and rinsed with ACV. Smells so good after washing, a delicate tea scent.

I was skeptical about this powder when I mixed it with water and applied it to my head. I figured there was no way it could wash it. It doesn’t seem like it will clean it at all, but it really does, and it’s completely mind blowing for someone who’s been using bubbly shampoo her whole life. This stuff also doesn’t dry my scalp out like most shampoos, and I’ve seen a huge reduction in dandruff. After I used it once, I bought another pack. This stuff is absolutely insane, in a great way.

I am amazed at the results with just one use. I have been using henna to restore recent breakage and dryness from bleaching. I have been using red Raj to deposit keratin and color that was green but the shikakai powder has impressed me with one use I can see and feel healthy hair without a hair straightener or blow dry. Excellent quality and I highly recommend it.

I have used shikakai before as a hair cleanser. The product I ordered from Henna Sooq is definitely of a superior quality: it is very finely sifted, making rinsing--which can be a bit tricky--quite easy. It leaves my hair perfectly clean, very soft, and bouncy.

This was my first time using Shikakai powder and I must say from first impressions, I am in love.
The smell was something like an earthy spice and it was oddly pleasing to my nose. After using the Shikakai my hair felt stronger and actually clean.
