How To
Before coloring your hair always prewash your hair with one of our hair washes or one of our shampoo bars. We recommend our Soapnut Hair Wash for best results and especially for resistant and hard to color grey hairs. Applying onto damp hair strands, makes the application go on much easier. For added moisture, 1-2 tsp of aloe vera powder can be added to 100 grams of indigo. Since we are a DIY henna hair coloring brand and use these methods, there are several ways to get the color you would like: Reddish Brown: 3 parts henna to 1 part indigo (also known as 70% henna and 30% indigo). This is done in a one step coloring application. Follow the directions to mix your henna and indigo as found on the back of then packages. Brown: Equal parts of henna and indigo (50/50). This is done in a one step coloring application. Follow the directions to mix your henna and indigo as found on the back of then packages. Dark Brown: 3 parts indigo and 1 part henna (also known as 70% indigo and 30% henna). This is done in a one step coloring application. Follow the directions to mix your henna and indigo as found on the back of then packages. For all henna hair coloring treatments, rinse out with our Cleansing CoWash once the dyeing process is complete. Moisturize, dry and style as usual. Do not deep condition after coloring as it can remove some of the dye. We recommend you use a water-based leave in conditioner to moisturize your hair or a light hair oil such as our Golden Jojoba Oil or Camellia Oil. Do note that henna based dyes, being plant-based, sometimes will take more then 1 application to get best coverage (even 3-4 to really build up especially on stubborn and virgin hair). Color can be repeated every 4-6 weeks or root touch ups in between as needed. On average you'll need to use about this much according to your hair length: Storage: We recommend you store all Ayurvedic herbs in a cool dark place, fridge or freezer and away from moisture. Warning: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Always test all henna, herbs and products on your skin/scalp before use for possible allergies. Henna and Ayurvedic herbs can be drying to some hair types. Be sure to add necessary moisturizing ingredients to your hair treatments before and after. Henna can also loosen the curl pattern. Be sure to use amla or zizyphus powders or masks to maintain curl pattern. Indigo must not be used alone. Henna is the base and without it, the indigo will leave your hair a green tint.

I tried using this after red henna for a black effect and it did not work at all
Hi Huma, we're sorry to hear the dye didn't meet your expectations. Please contact us directly so we can help find a solution or suggest alternative options. Thank you for your feedback.
I love the organic indigo vs the non-organic. Worked so well with every henna variety I have used. The non organic seems to irritate my scalp and make it itch. After observing what happens after using each I noticed marked difference in result. Both seem to fade after time, but the organic sticks to the hair better. Lasts longer. I am grateful for any length of time I can keep the beautiful color I get from henna or indigo, as my hair doesn’t hold onto color well. And underneath the color it is all grey after all. Very happy with the results of all the Henna Sooq products I use :)
I've been using this indigo with their henna to dye my blonde hair a dark brown! It took a few sessions and months to get a consistent color, but i absolutely love how it's turned out. Because it's a natural product, I find that it works well with the highlights and lowlights of my original color, giving my now dark hair lots of layers. There are pretty hints of burgundy, blue, and auburn, the tips lighten to a burnt orange. Their youtube howto's are perfect for learning how to mix the powder and apply. I have found my hair soft, strong, and healthy. I love it and will probably never go back:)
I mixed with henna to get a brown. Will be using this product moving forward <3
