How To
When used with henna or to create a hair mask or treatment, add 2-3 tbsp of amla powder for every 100 grams used. Add warm water or a liquid of your choice to the recipe and mix well. Prewash your hair using one of our hair washes or shampoo bars. On damp hair strands, apply to hair by sections. When used as a hair mask or deep conditioning treatment leave in hair for 1-2 hours. For use with henna hair dyeing, leave it in your hair for 3-4 hours. Rinse out well with our cleansing cowash for best results. Moisturize, dry and style as usual. Storage: We recommend you store all Ayurvedic herbs in a cool dark place, fridge or freezer and away from moisture. Warning: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Always test all henna, herbs and products on your skin/scalp before use for possible allergies. Henna and Ayurvedic herbs can be drying to some hair types. Be sure to add necessary moisturizing ingredients to your hair treatments before and after. Henna can also loosen the curl pattern. Be sure to use amla or zizyphus powders or masks to maintain curl pattern.
You can use amla powder and mix it with conditioner, yoghurt, hair butters or other Ayurvedic herbs as a hair mask or deep conditioning treatment.

I love using this powder. It makes my hair so manageable. I have my sister start using it as well.
Yassss!! So happy!!! :) - Khadija
I bought Alma, Aloe and Seder powders to use as a hair mask. My hair is medium brown with very light blonde highlights. I hoped the mask would make my strands healthier and shiny and repair the damage from bleaching. I mixed warm water and yogurt to make the paste and let it sit on my hair about an hour. I unfortunately it left my hair very dry and dull and after a few weeks of deep conditioning I ended up cutting about 4 “ off so I could try to manage it. My advice is don’t use this if you have any bleaching or developer processed hair. Lesson learned
Hello Rosemary
We're sorry to hear that the herbs didn't work for you. It sounds like there just wasn't enough moisture in your recipe as well. It may be due to if your hair is a bit dried out from the previous chemical coloring, your hair would need another type of variation of the recipe to get better results. Our products are safe with any chemical processes but depending on the state of their hair, the recipe used may need some adjustments. If you have any left, mix equal parts of each herb, depending on how much you may need for your hair length and thickness. Use conditioner for your base instead of yoghurt and perhaps a little honey to repair dryness or any damage. We hope this helps some. - Khadija
First time using it and so far so good. My hair looks healthier even after one use.
Seemed to soften my fine hair but seemed so fly away. I thought it would help my naturally curly hair but it seemed to do the opposite. Hair seemed to be too limp to curl.
Hello. Thank you for your review. How did you mix your amla powder? Did you use aloe vera or moisturizing ingredients to help with the treatment? It sounds like it may have been more dry for your hair, hence the fly aways and limpness. - Khadija, owner at Henna Sooq
